An extremely attractive, painted antique (late Victorian) dressing table.

Prior to painting this dressing table has had its original varnish sanded off, to provide superior paint adhesion. I have also masked and removed fittings prior to painting. I have painted it with three coats of Grand Illusions 'Calico', which is a lovely subtle cream colour. To add depth, the decorative turned spindles on the legs and the trim on the drawers have been painted in Farrow & Ball 'French Grey' Eggshell. I have applied a 'Violettes de Parme' stencil in Annie Sloan 'Duck Egg' to the the table top. Finally a coat of clear bees' wax has been applied over the paint work.

There is a large tilting mirror on stands, which have small trinket shelves. The especially pretty decorative solid brass handles are original to the piece. Rose swag mount and 'fleur de lys' mouldings have been applied to the base and top of the mirror.

The dressing table has two small jewellery drawers at the top and two larger drawers on within the table.

This is an original antique and as such has small scratches, marks and dings acquired over time. The large mirror has some silvering at the sides. The dressing table is made from solid satinwood. The dovetail constructed drawers are made from solid pine.

A lot of work and care has gone into making this item as good as it is.

The top section separates from the table base for ease of transportation.

Total height: 157cm. Top section: 84cm high. The table base is 73cm high, 107cm wide and 52.5cm deep.

Collection in person.
