A large and beautiful antique pine farmhouse dresser, from France, dates from around 1900. This is a lovely item with loads of French rustic charm. Made from substantial heavy old pine, and painted in a duck egg colour. The paint work has the look of the delightful old and faded shutters found throughout Southern France. The interior of the base is an off white colour. The exterior of the dresser has been painted a mid green and also in a cream colour in the past, as flakes of this old paint are still visible on the dresser.

The dresser has a fairly high, three shelf, waterfall open plate rack. This has been shortened to accommodate the lower ceilings of most English houses. The base has a thick plank built work surface and a plank interior shelf. The two drawers are also very substantial, and the dresser bears no resemblance to the cheap flimsy pine used on many modern dressers.

The heavy solid brass drawer handles and cupboard handles are original to the piece. The back of base is modern as this dresser was originally built directly on to the wall of a house.

This item is only suitable for people who like real and rustic farmhouse furniture. It has loads of scratches marks, chips, dings, and remains of old paint. It is in sound condition and appears not to have or have had woodworm.

It is unusual to find an antique French dresser like this in England, and it really is very pretty piece.

The top and the base separate for ease of transportation.

Total height 228cm. The top section is 132cm high, 132cm wide, 22cm deep. The base is 96cm high, 152cm wide, 44cm deep.

Collection in person.
