This is a two over two antique, probably early 19th century, chest of drawers and appears to have originally been a dresser base. The top and drawers are pale stripped mahogany, the sides and frame have been painted in a French 'Blanc Sable No.4', nearest Farrow & Ball swatch 'Bone', and waxed with bees' wax.

The top has, which is slightly warped, has been cut to create a rustic rough finish. The many layers of old paint and varnish have been stripped off and a new under and top coats applied.

It still has the original locks, although the one for the bottom drawer is missing. The copper cup handles are old and show signs of being on the drawers for a great many years. It would originally have had decorative brass pulls.

It has scratches, dents, chips, old nail holes and the top is slightly warped, this is one only for those who love rustic antique furniture. However the finished effect is absolutely gorgeous.

92wide, 76cm high, 45cm deep.
