A late 17th, or early 18th century oak coffer with alterations.
This is a lovely antique coffer, around 300 years old. The original lock and lock plate are missing, but it does have a lock plate from the period. The candle box is also missing. I believe the handles, although very old, have been added at a later date. There is also a piece of wood, used in the interior to reinforce the centre of the lid, which is a much later addition.

Despite the alterations this remains a most attractive coffer, and with its smaller proportions makes it very versatile piece for the more modern home.

114cm wide, 50cm high, 42cm deep.
