A lovely chest of drawers, inspired by the beach huts of East Anglia. To obtain this sun and sea spray weathered effect, the chest has been painted in several 'distressed style' layers. First painted with undercoat, then over painted with Autentico 'Antique White' chalk paint. This has been followed by a coat of Farrow & Ball 'Light Gray No.17'. It has also been painted with Annie Sloan 'Duck Egg Blue' and 'Chateau Grey' chalk paint, prior to another coat of the Autentico 'Antique White'. The paint work has then been distressed to reveal areas of the underlying wood. The drawer interiors are painted in a pale 'Aqua Green'.

The drawer handles are salvaged off cuts from wood turning, adding to the drift wood 'found' feel of the piece. Finally the exterior of the chest has been coated with two coats of bees' wax.

Made from solid wood, although the sides of the chest are plywood. The drawers are constructed using dovetail joints. The chest has plenty of scratches and dings, which add to its weathered effect. This is a unique item of furniture, with real coastal charm.

77cm wide, 58.5cm high, 46cm deep.

Collection in person.
