An antique pine chest, probably late 19th century or start of 20th century. Slightly unusual in that it is on castors, so may have originally been a tool box. This waxed chest has a lovely patina and an unusual crimped edge to the lid. However, the chest is rather worn and has had many repairs. It has numerous splits, cracks, chips, scratches, the lid has an indent at the back and the inner box is missing. The handles are original, the hinges are old but not the originals. The top section of the lock is missing. There is evidence of old woodworm, but the chest has been treated for woodworm.

This is a lovely chest for those who like the character of a well used antique.

89cm wide, 44cm deep, 45cm high.

Collection in person.
