A beautiful and unique chest of drawers from KwaZulu-Natal.

This is a vintage piece, made from solid imbuia wood. Imbuia is a tropical hardwood with a lovely irregular grain. The piece is made with with a lovely flowing scalloped shape and carved claw and ball feet.

Painted in an open 'toile de l'artiste' style, to reflect the flowing lines of the piece, in Annie Sloan 'Duck Egg', Farrow & Ball 'Lime White' and a 'Limestone' eggshell. The solid brass handles have been blackened and then over painted in white, before being distressed to show some of the brass. Finally two coats of bees' wax have been applied.

All of the drawers open and close very smoothly and the chest is in good condition.

83.5cm wide, 98cm high, 48cm deep.

Collection in person.
